The Havre de Grace Activity Center project needed to meet the needs of three different agencies that would all utilize the completed building. A multi-agency collaborative facility between Harford County Parks and Recreation, Boys and Girls Club, and the Harford County Office on Aging met with a skilled design team to express their ideas and specifications to be incorporated in the final design.
The facility features a centralized gymnasium, sized as regular basketball court with sidelines and room for bleaches, for use by each of the agencies. The Boys and Girls Club is situated directly adjacent to the gymnasium as well as the on site sports fields. Due to specific needs, the Boys and Girls Club has its own building entrance as well as one within the building itself.
The Senior Center is located on the opposite site of the gym separated by a hallway designed for exercise walking. The seniors have access to a billiards rooms, library, and main gathering space. The remaining facilities include a multipurpose room, art room, and dance room as well as administrative office spaces. The project was also done in collaboration with the adjacent school facility.
